1. Applying butter properly is the first step to maintain an excavator
Applying butter is the first lesson for every excavator operator when they first come into contact with an excavator. It is also an indispensable task for daily maintenance of the excavator. Applying butter, a seemingly simple task, can directly affect the life of the excavator. Its function is to reduce the lubrication of the excavator to each working part, reduce the high temperature caused by the friction of the working parts, and prevent sand and other dirt from entering the gap between the working device. Failure to add butter on time will make the butter seal unable to seal, increase the wear between the friction parts, and reduce the service life.
When applying butter to the excavator, when choosing grease, in addition to considering the main working conditions, working status, and working environment of the machine, several factors should be considered. When the temperature is high, such as in summer, you should choose a thicker grease with less evaporation loss; when the operating temperature is low, such as in winter, you should choose a grease with low viscosity and thicker release.
2. Replace diesel and engine oil with low viscosity
When the temperature is particularly low, the viscosity of various oils increases, and it becomes difficult to start the engine. At this time, it is necessary to replace diesel and engine oil with low viscosity.
The temperature range of different grades of engine oils. In winter, excavators should use light diesel with low freezing point and good ignition performance. Generally, the freezing point of diesel engines is required to be 7-10℃ lower than the lowest temperature of the local season. If the diesel of the appropriate grade is not replaced in time in the low temperature environment in winter, the fluidity of the diesel will deteriorate, the viscosity will increase, it will be difficult to spray, resulting in poor atomization and deterioration of combustion, which will directly lead to a decrease in the power and economic performance of the diesel engine.
For Northeast my country and other high-cold areas, it is necessary to consider replacing the oil with a higher grade at the beginning of winter, and use it when the ambient temperature is between -10 degrees and 30 degrees, or a higher grade of oil; for the warmer areas in the south, it is necessary to consider whether to replace the oil with a different grade according to the actual local conditions.
3. Excavator battery
When the temperature drops, the battery's storage capacity will decrease. At this time, you should cover it with quilts and other clothes to keep the battery warm, or directly remove it from the machine and store it indoors, and then install it before the next day's operation. If the battery electrolyte level is found to be too low, distilled water or electrolyte should be added before work the next morning, and not added after the work is completed on the same day to prevent freezing at night.
4. Winter antifreeze for excavators
When using an excavator in the cold winter, antifreeze should be added to the cooling system of the excavator, and the proportion of antifreeze added to the cooling system should be the proportion at the lowest temperature. If the equipment needs to be temporarily parked for a period of time, the cooling water in the engine needs to be emptied. When draining water, you need to pay attention to the following points: the excavator should run at idle speed before turning off the engine. Wait until the cooling water temperature drops below 60℃ and the water is not hot, then turn off the engine and drain the water. If the cooling water is drained too early, the body will shrink suddenly and crack when it is suddenly attacked by cold air at a high temperature. When draining water, the remaining water in the body should be completely discharged to prevent it from freezing and expanding, causing the body to burst.
5. The following points should be noted for long-term storage of excavators in winter
With the arrival of winter, cold areas in my country, especially in northern China, often enter the off-season for construction due to the influence of the frozen soil environment. At this time, some excavators need to be stored for a period of time and wait for the spring. Let's talk about the precautions for storing excavators in winter. Don't let your excavator freeze!
When storing excavators in winter, put the fuel control lever of the excavator in the idle position and all the joysticks in the neutral position before storage. The storage site should be on a solid and flat surface, and avoid harsh environments such as humidity, salinity, and dust. Try to retract the exposed oil cylinders as much as possible to prevent foreign objects from knocking and corrosion from wet rain and snow, which may cause damage or rust. If conditions permit, find a few pieces of cloth to cover the exposed oil cylinders; empty the cooling water in the engine and replace the engine oil. When the excavator is parked for a long time, the old oil is easy to corrode the metal parts of the engine. If conditions permit, remove the battery and store it indoors, otherwise remember to turn off the battery key. For machines without battery keys, you can also remove the battery cable; start the engine once every half a month and operate the machine to establish a new oil film on the lubrication of each part to prevent rust and charge the battery at the same time.
