1 Check the engine oil
Open the engine cover and check whether the engine oil is sufficient by checking the scale of the scale. There are the highest and lowest scales at the end of the scale. The highest point is generally marked with the word "full" or two scale points, and the normal scale is between the lowest and highest scales.
The common inspection method is: park the excavator on a level surface, pull out the scale, wipe the scale with toilet paper (toilet paper is cheap and a must-have item on the car), and then quickly pull out the scale after the scale is "returned" and observe the scale. If it is lower than the lowest scale or higher than the highest scale, it should be stopped in time.
Why should the excavator be placed on a level surface?
The scale scale will be read accurately only when the excavator is parked on a level surface and the engine is "cold". Here I will give an analogy. Imagine placing the engine oil in a bucket. The bottom of the bucket is the lowest scale and the top of the bucket is the highest scale. At this time, the engine oil in the bucket is the normal amount of engine oil. When the excavator is parked crookedly, it is very likely that the engine oil in the bucket will overflow, which will be reflected on the scale as a crooked scale. At this time, there will be errors in reading the scale; when the engine is in working state or has just stopped running and is still in a "hot engine", it is equivalent to heating the engine oil in the bucket. At high temperatures, it will flip, boil, and even overflow from the bucket. At this time, reading the scale is also inaccurate.
What are the hazards of too much or too little engine oil? How to deal with it?
Too much engine oil
1. Too much oil will cause blue smoke to come out of the engine exhaust pipe, that is, the phenomenon of "burning engine oil".
2. Too much oil will increase the crankshaft rotation resistance, reduce the engine output power, and the excavator will appear heavy, stuffy, and increase noise.
3. Too much engine oil can easily lead to oil leakage, making the oil seal easily damaged. In addition, oil leakage will make the engine very dirty.
Treatment method: According to the general treatment method, open the engine base plate, unscrew the oil overflow port at the bottom of the engine with a wrench to let the oil flow out, but this method is difficult to control the amount of outflow and is easy to pollute the environment. Here I will tell you another method. Find a discarded syringe and a disposable infusion set or a suction tube, and then prepare an empty mineral water bottle. Use the tube to suck out the excess oil and put it in the mineral water bottle. The remaining oil can be used elsewhere.
Syringe that can be used to extract too much oil
Too little oil
1. Too little oil will cause the oil temperature to be too high and the oil temperature gauge will alarm.
2. Too little oil will cause the engine to pull the cylinder and hold the bearing.
3. Too little oil will cause poor engine lubrication and abnormal wear.
Treatment method: Stop working after the oil temperature gauge alarms, and park the excavator on a level ground. Open the engine hood and pour the same brand and model of oil through the engine oil filling port. Pour in an appropriate amount and wait for a while. Because the oil is relatively viscous and flows slowly, measure the oil dipstick. If it is not enough, continue to pour in the oil and repeat the measurement steps until the scale after observation reaches the appropriate scale.
The oil is used for lubrication. After the engine is running, it will cause oil loss. Therefore, the oil dipstick should be checked frequently and problems should be dealt with in time.
2 Check the coolant
1. Excavators are usually equipped with expansion kettles, which are often called "auxiliary water tanks". The lowest scale on the kettle is indicated by "LOW" and the highest scale is indicated by "FULL". Pure water or antifreeze can also be poured through the auxiliary water tank cover.
The scientific name of engine water is "coolant". Drivers can often be seen pouring tap water, mineral water, and even well water and river water. These types of water contain minerals and other tiny impurities. Over time, scale will form and accumulate in the engine, affecting the thermal cycle of the engine. In severe cases, the water temperature will be too high or even "boiled", which will damage the engine and make the excavator unable to work normally.
2. For excavators without or with a damaged expansion kettle, you need to unscrew the water tank cap to check the water level. When pouring coolant, be sure to fill the water tank. Check the water level frequently during high-temperature operations. Here is a reminder: when the engine is working, the engine water temperature is too high and the alarm sounds. Stop the excavator and pour water outside the water tank to cool the water tank first. After the engine is "cool", open the water tank cap to add coolant to avoid the splashing of coolant when the water tank cap is opened, which may cause damage to the driver.
When winter comes and the temperature is low or in summer and the temperature is high, as a machine operator, you should increase the number of times you check the coolant. Prevent ice from freezing the cylinder in winter and prevent the water tank from "boiling" due to high temperature in summer.
3 Add butter
"Buttering" is the responsibility of every driver. Most of the current excavator operators are young men born in the 80s and 90s. Have you developed a strong body by insisting on buttering every day?
Do you know the three main functions of butter?
1. Butter, scientifically known as grease, can reduce friction between objects in relative motion and play a lubricating role.
2. It can dissipate friction heat.
3. Third, by filling the gap of the working device with butter, pollutants can be prevented from entering to a certain extent, playing a cleaning role.
So how should it be filled?
First, retract the large and small arms of the excavator, or just fully extend the small arms. Of course, the placement posture can also be adjusted according to the surrounding environment of the excavator.
When "fighting alone", reduce the number of placements as much as possible to save time.
Take out the grease gun, put on gloves, and squeeze the grease gun head into the grease nozzle. At this time, the grease gun head and the grease gun nozzle are in a straight line. Swing the grease gun pressure arm to fill until the grease just overflows the pin shaft. It should be noted that: the grease gun is tilted and filled, which will cause the grease to overflow, causing unnecessary waste. The amount of grease added varies with the degree of wear of the pin shaft during work.
4. Check whether there is oil leakage in the body
Open the engine bottom plate, wipe the oil stains on the engine, hydraulic pump and other parts or oil pipes with toilet paper, start the excavator, and wipe it again to draw a conclusion on whether there is oil leakage.
5. Check whether there are cracks on the big and small arms. It is a relatively simple process, but you can't "take a quick look". Instead, you should clean the oil stains and check carefully.
6. Oil-water separator drainage
The oil-water separator is a device that filters water in the fuel. According to the density difference between water and fuel, it uses the principle of gravity sedimentation to remove impurities and water, so that the fuel burns more fully. It can also reduce the failure of the fuel injector, extend the service life of the engine and improve the overall work efficiency. Many drivers think that they can still drive without draining water before starting, and it has little impact on the work. Is it really the case?
Generally, there is a transparent plastic water cup under the oil-water separator. When using the oil-water separator, you must pay attention to draining water in time. If there is too much water, the oil-water separator will not play the role of oil-water separation. Especially after the excavator is filled with fuel, it is more necessary to drain water. Generally, there is a fuel switch at the oil-water separator. At this time, put on gloves, turn off the fuel switch, open the drain port and turn on the fuel switch to drain the water in the water cup. This process seems simple but is easily overlooked.
7. Adjust the state
The excavator needs to adjust the state, and the driver should also adjust the working state, keep a clear mind at all times, and have a more comprehensive safety awareness in mind.
After preheating for 5 minutes, the water temperature also reaches a certain temperature. Operate the handle and test the 8 directions of movement respectively. "Listen" to the operation status of the whole machine. If there is any abnormality, get off the car at any time to check carefully, and deal with it according to the steps before starting work.
In fact, the preparations before starting work are not only these, but also include: hydraulic oil inspection, rotary gear oil inspection, walking device inspection, understanding and familiarizing with the working conditions and construction steps of the construction site. Drivers must be "bold and careful" and "prepare for trouble" to work more steadily and more efficiently.
