Some tips for using mini excavators

Post by DIG-DOG »

Travel and steering operation:

When traveling, try to retract the working device close to the center of the machine body to maintain stability during driving.

The final drive (drive wheel) should be placed at the rear to reduce the risk of damage to the travel mechanism.

Avoid driving directly over sharp or extremely hard obstacles, such as stumps and rocks, to prevent damage or distortion of the track. If necessary, pass slowly and make sure that the track is facing the center line of the obstacle.

When climbing a slope or passing a mound, use the working device as a fulcrum to reduce the possibility of the machine tipping forward or tipping over.

Starting and preheating:

When starting normally, make sure that the safety locking lever is in the locked position, no people and obstacles are in the danger zone, the throttle is adjusted to the appropriate position, and then the key is correctly inserted to start.

When starting at low temperatures in winter, the engine needs to be preheated. Usually there is a special preheating function. Try to start after preheating for a period of time, and keep the engine fully warm at idle speed.

Excavation operation skills:

Before operation, fully understand the work site environment, and be clear about the location of obstacles and terrain characteristics.

During the slewing operation, be careful not to let the final drive face the excavation direction to avoid damaging the travel motor or hydraulic hose.

Keep the left and right crawlers evenly stressed and in full contact with the ground to enhance the stability of the equipment.

Rationally use the force and angle of the working device, master the correct excavation and loading methods, and avoid damage to the equipment caused by excessive load.

Maintenance:

Regularly check and replace the engine oil, fuel filter and air filter to ensure that all parts are well lubricated to prevent oil contamination and cylinder wear.

Pay attention to the air tightness check to prevent unfiltered air from entering the cylinder.

Perform regular maintenance according to the manufacturer's recommendations, including adjusting the crawler tension, checking and cleaning the hydraulic system, etc.

Safety matters:

Before and after the operation, sound the whistle to remind the surrounding personnel to pay attention to safety.

The starting motor must not be allowed to run continuously for more than the specified time. If the engine cannot be started, follow the principle of cooling and waiting before restarting.
