Precautions for cold start of excavator

In winter, due to the decrease in ambient temperature, the viscosity of the engine oil increases. During the start-up process of the engine, the friction resistance between the moving parts will increase. The battery capacity will also decrease with the decrease in temperature, which will cause the engine start speed to decrease. In addition, the increase in the heat dissipation of the engine cylinder wall will cause the diesel sprayed into the cylinder to have poor atomization quality, making it difficult to mix with the air in time to form a good combustible gas and ignite and burn in time. The above factors will lead to difficulty in starting the engine.
How can we avoid this phenomenon?

Suggestion 1: Always maintain the battery pile head to prevent the pile head from oxidation and ensure that the battery has sufficient starting capacity;

Suggestion 2: When the ambient temperature is lower than 3℃, turn on the preheating switch before starting the machine (it is recommended to preheat more than three times in a row) to preheat the intake air.

1. Preparation for long-term storage (more than 1 month)

1) If there is mud on the surface of the excavator, please be sure to clean it up and keep the whole machine clean.

2) Engine: Check the antifreeze level and engine oil level, whether the engine oil quality is normal, and whether there is leakage.
3) Hydraulic system: Check whether there is leakage in each motor, cylinder, main pump, pipeline, and joint, whether each cylinder rod is scratched and corroded, and the exposed parts of each cylinder rod and gas spring rod need to be protected with butter.
4) Electrical system: In order to prevent the battery from running out of power, turn off the power switch or remove the battery grounding wire. The voltage value of the battery is directly displayed on the display screen. You can check the display screen or the battery observation hole to check the battery status. Green means normal, black means insufficient charging, and transparent means insufficient electrolyte.
5) Special notes: If the excavator is parked for a long time, if the battery grounding wire is not removed, GPS power consumption will cause the battery to run out of power, and in severe cases, the battery may be scrapped. If the weather is particularly cold, the battery must be removed and placed indoors.

2. Precautions for winter parking
1) Clean the dirt on the surface of the excavator and check whether the fasteners are loose.
2) Check the antifreeze level of the engine coolant and fuel, the level of the engine oil and coolant, add the antifreeze and engine oil to the normal position in time, and then start it.
3) Ensure anti-rust operation once a month.
Anti-rust operation steps
① Start the engine and run it once. In cold weather, put the key in the preheating position (until the preheating light is on) and preheat it 3 to 5 times;
② After starting, run it at idle speed for 5 to 10 minutes, and operate each cylinder 5-10 times without load, each time 5 to 10MM less than the maximum stroke;
③ At the last no-load highest speed (the highest throttle position), quickly operate each cylinder 5-10 times, and at the same time operate the left and right rotation for more than 3 circles and the forward and backward travel for more than 20M, until the hydraulic oil temperature rises to 50 to 80℃, it can operate normally;
④ Turn on the A/C switch and operate the air conditioning system for more than 5 minutes to keep a certain thickness of oil film at the sealing ring of the air conditioning system to prevent refrigerant leakage. At the same time, check whether the electrical control switch of the excavator is normal.
⑤ After idling for 5 to 10 minutes, stop the engine.
In winter, if the machine is to be stored for a long time, the engine coolant must be drained cleanly. In order to prevent the hydraulic cylinder piston rod from rusting, the cylinder should be fully retracted and placed on the ground.
