Why does the loader hydraulic system heat up?

1. Cause Analysis

1. High working environment temperature. Continuous operation in hot summer, coupled with poor cooling effect or poor heat dissipation, causes the machine to generate more heat than the heat dissipation, causing the oil temperature to be too high.

2. Long-term overload operation
The loader works continuously for a long time under high pressure and high power, the overflow valve is frequently opened, and the oil circuit and components in the hydraulic system heat up due to long-term high-pressure unloading.

3. Hydraulic pump heating
The hydraulic pump is the main component that generates heat. The hydraulic pump has a high speed, high oil discharge pressure, a harsh working environment, oil pollution, unqualified oil selection or too little oil, which can cause pump damage and leakage. Leakage in the pump can increase its power loss and cause serious wear. After air invades the oil, it is easy to compress, which can cause dry grinding of the pump. Long-term leakage, dry grinding or severe compression in the hydraulic pump will inevitably generate heat, causing the oil to heat up and causing the system to heat up.

2. Failure Example
There is a loader that has the phenomenon of weak shoveling and poor operation during operation. The high-pressure oil pipe felt hot when touched by hand, and it was initially determined that it was caused by the heating of the hydraulic system. The hydraulic pump was checked and the pump housing was found to be hot and noisy; when the hydraulic oil was checked, the oil was found to be deteriorated.

Analysis showed that the hydraulic pump was likely to heat up due to oil contamination, so the hydraulic oil was replaced. When replacing, the oil pipe, oil tank and filter were cleaned first; a certain amount of oil was added to the system, and the cleaned oil was discharged after several cycles; finally, new hydraulic oil was added.

After this treatment, the heating phenomenon was not eradicated. Later, considering that the hydraulic pump might heat up due to wear and internal leakage caused by oil contamination, the hydraulic pump was replaced (after the original hydraulic pump was disassembled, it was found that it was severely worn and had a large matching clearance). The test machine showed that the temperature of the hydraulic system returned to normal.
