How to protect the hydraulic pump when using an excavator with a breaker hammer

Post by DIG-DOG »

Since the breaker is a reciprocating impact movement, the oil return speed is fast and the relative pulse is large, which causes the hydraulic oil to age faster. Therefore, it is necessary to properly maintain the excavator. Proper use can effectively extend the service life of the hydraulic system.

Appropriate engine speed (medium throttle)

Analysis: Since the breaker has low requirements for working pressure and flow (such as 20-ton excavators, working pressure 160-180KG, flow 140-180L/MIN), medium throttle can work; if the throttle is high, it will not only not increase the impact force, but also cause abnormal temperature rise of the hydraulic oil, which will also cause greater damage to the hydraulic system.

Correct grease posture, frequency, and quantity

Please be sure to add lubricating grease when the steel drill is pressed straight (vertically press the drill rod completely into the cylinder body), and add it once every 2 hours

Analysis: If lubricating grease is added when the steel drill is suspended, the grease will enter the striking chamber. When striking, abnormal high-pressure oil will be generated in the striking chamber and enter the hydraulic system, damaging the hydraulic pump.

Hydraulic oil quantity and contamination status

Analysis: Since hydraulic oil contamination is one of the main causes of hydraulic pump failure, the contamination status of hydraulic oil should be confirmed in time. (Replace hydraulic oil every 600 hours and replace core every 100 hours)

Lack of hydraulic oil will cause cavitation and cause hydraulic pump failure, damage to the piston cylinder of the breaker, etc.; Recommendation: Check the oil level before use every day.

Replace oil seal in time

Analysis: Oil seal is a wearing part. It is recommended to replace the oil seal of the breaker hammer after working for about 600-800 hours; when the oil seal leaks, it must be stopped immediately and replaced, otherwise dust will easily enter the hydraulic system, damage the hydraulic system, and damage the hydraulic pump.

Keep the pipeline clean

When installing the breaker pipeline, it must be thoroughly cleaned and the inlet and return oil circuits must be connected; when replacing the bucket, the breaker pipeline must be blocked to keep the pipeline clean;

Analysis: Sand and other debris entering the hydraulic system can easily damage the hydraulic pump.
