The gearbox is an important loader accessory, which has three main functions: 1. Change the transmission ratio. 2. Enable the mechanical vehicle to travel backwards without changing the direction of engine rotation. 3. Use the neutral gear to interrupt the power transmission so that the engine can start and idle, and facilitate the transmission shift or power output.

The manual transmission is mainly composed of gears and shafts, and produces speed and torque changes through different gear combinations; while the automatic transmission AT is composed of a torque converter, planetary gears and a hydraulic control system, and achieves speed and torque changes through hydraulic transmission and gear combinations. Among them, the torque converter is the most characteristic component of AT. It is composed of components such as pump wheel, turbine and guide wheel, and directly inputs the engine power to transmit torque and clutch. The pump wheel and turbine are a pair of working combinations. They are like two fans placed opposite each other. The wind blown by an active fan will drive the blades of the other passive fan to rotate, and the wind becomes the medium for kinetic energy transmission. If liquid is used instead of air as the medium for transmitting kinetic energy, the pump wheel will drive the turbine to rotate through the liquid, and then add a guide wheel between the pump wheel and the turbine to improve the transmission efficiency of the liquid.
