With the end of April, midsummer is coming! The high temperature in summer is a huge test for the construction workers and excavators. Excavators often have various faults due to high temperature during operation. The maintenance of excavators in summer is the top priority. So how should we properly maintain excavators in summer?
Common faults and treatments in high temperature environments in summer
In order to reduce the occurrence of excavator failures, the operation and maintenance of excavators in summer must be strictly in accordance with the specifications. The following summarizes several possible faults and emergency treatment solutions for excavators in high temperature environments, as well as how to do daily maintenance of excavators in summer.
Common faults
1. Hydraulic system faults
(1) Hydraulic systems often experience pipe bursts, joint oil leakage, solenoid valve coil burnout, hydraulic valve jamming, and loud noise in high temperature environments;
(2) For systems using accumulators, the accumulators may be damaged due to high hydraulic oil temperatures;
(3) In summer, aging circuits are more likely to crack due to thermal expansion and contraction of metals, resulting in short circuit faults;
Excavator equipment, excavator manufacturers, Ningbo excavators
(4) Electrical components in the control cabinet are also prone to failure in high temperature seasons, and key control components may also experience freezes, slow operation, control failures, and other faults.
2. Lubrication system faults
Long-term operation of construction machinery at high temperatures will lead to poor performance of the lubrication system, oil deterioration, and wear of the chassis and other transmission systems.
3. Engine faults
High temperature conditions can easily cause the engine to "boil", causing the viscosity of the engine oil to decrease, leading to failures such as cylinder scuffing and tile burning, while also reducing the engine's output power.
Continuous high temperature places strict requirements on the permeability of the radiator, requiring the cooling system to operate at high load continuously, which reduces the life of cooling system components such as fans and water pumps. Frequent use of air-conditioning compressors and fans can also easily lead to failures.
4. Failure of other components
(1) In summer, the temperature is high and the humidity is high. If the vents of the battery are blocked, it will explode due to increased internal pressure;
(2) Small cracks in the cab glass will expand and even burst due to the large temperature difference between the inside and outside or splashing water in summer.
Common fault handling methods
1. Engine emergency handling plan
"Boiling" is one of the most common faults caused by high temperature in construction machinery. When the water temperature is too high, do not rush to open the water radiator cap to dissipate heat. It should be cooled naturally before adding water.
If the engine is found to be "boiling", the operation should be stopped immediately, and the engine should be idled for a few minutes. When the water temperature drops and is no longer boiling, wrap the water radiator cap with a towel soaked in water, carefully unscrew part of the water radiator cap to release the water vapor, and unscrew all the water radiator caps after the water vapor is released.
2. Cooling system fault handling
After the excavator has been used in autumn, winter and spring, some places are easy to accumulate some dead branches and rotten leaves, or adsorption of catkins. These things hinder the heat dissipation effect of the water tank, hydraulic oil radiator and air conditioning condenser. It is easy to cause high temperature of the engine, high temperature deterioration of hydraulic oil, and poor air conditioning refrigeration. In addition, the covers and sponges at the water tanks and radiators of some excavators are damaged or detached, resulting in abnormal air suction of the fan, resulting in poor heat dissipation of the water tank, hydraulic oil radiator and air conditioning condenser. To ensure the normal use of the excavator, always pay attention to the number of grids on the water temperature gauge. When it reaches a certain level, measures must be taken. You can choose to park in a nearby cool place and cool down at idle speed. Be careful not to turn off the engine immediately to prevent overheating of the engine and cause accidents such as cylinder pulling. After the temperature drops, in addition to checking whether the antifreeze is missing, you should also check the tension and fatigue of the fan belt.
Tips for summer excavator maintenance
Entering summer, it is best to do a comprehensive excavator maintenance, and focus on the maintenance of equipment and components that are prone to high temperature failures.
1. Replace the three filters and engine oil of the engine, replace or adjust it, check whether the performance of the fan, water pump, generator, and compressor is reliable, and perform maintenance, repair or replacement when necessary.
(1) Appropriately increase the viscosity grade of the engine oil, and at the same time check whether the cooling system and fuel system are unobstructed;
(2) Replace aging wires, plugs, and hoses, check and tighten the fuel pipeline to prevent fuel leakage;
(3) Clean the oil and dust on the engine body to ensure that the engine is "lightly equipped" and has good heat dissipation.
2. During summer construction, several aspects of maintenance and care should be focused on:
(1) The engine oil and lubricating oil in various places need to be replaced with summer oil, and the oil volume should be appropriate; check for oil leaks frequently, especially fuel, and replenish it in time.
(2) The battery fluid needs to be replenished in time, the charging current should be appropriately reduced, the circuit connectors should be firm and reliable, the aging circuits need to be replaced, and the fuse capacity should meet the safety requirements. The equipment should be equipped with a fire extinguisher.
(3) The equipment should be parked in a cool place as much as possible to avoid exposure to sunlight. Appropriately reduce the tire pressure to prevent tire blowouts.
(4) Pay attention to the damage of rain and dust to the equipment, and replace various filter elements regularly. The hydraulic system radiator should be cleaned regularly to maintain a good heat dissipation effect. Avoid long-term overload operation.
(5) Check whether the various parts of the equipment are flexible and whether there are small cracks to prevent the high temperature in summer from causing greater damage. If rust is found, it should be removed, repaired, and painted in time to avoid excessive rain in summer, which will lead to aggravated rust.
In the high temperature environment in summer, equipment maintenance is essential. It is necessary to track and manage the equipment, keep abreast of the performance dynamics of the equipment, improve the performance of the equipment, better adapt to the external high temperature and working conditions, and ensure smooth construction.
